Romanian insurance market totaled RON 2.56 billion (EUR 567 million) at the end of March 2017, up by 8.2% y-o-y, according to the quarterly market data published by the ASF.

The aggregate GWP portfolio consisted mainly of MTPL (about 43% of total GWP), MoD (17%), property insusance (11.2%) and life (21%).

The larget insurers in the country were CITY Insurance (14% market share, GWP of EUR 80 million) followed by ALLIANZ-TIRIAC (13.2%,EUR 75 million) and EUROINS (12%, EUR 68 million).

It is worth to mention that CITY Insurance (EUR 74.4 million) and EUROINS (EUR 60 million) are the largest MTPL insurers in the country. The two mentioned insurers accounted toghether for about 60% of total MTPL GWP (EUR 235 million).
