STATISTICS: SLOVENIA, FY2016: Slight increase for the insurance market in 2016

At the end of December 2016, the Slovenian insurers, members of the local association, reported aggregate GWP of EUR 2.03 billion, up by 1.5% y-o-y, the latest data published by SIA show.

At the same time, the value of paid claims by the 18th insurers decreased by 0.6% to EUR 1.35 billion, of which EUR 950 million related to the non-life insurance subclasses and EUR 407 million - life indemnities.

Overall, the GWP portfolio consisted of about 28% - life insurance (of which 15.7% - unit-linked and 12.9% - traditional policies) and 71.7% - non-life (of which 24% - health, 12% - property, 11.5% - MoD and 11% - Motor TPL).

Top 3 insurance companies as GWP consisted of companies with Slovenian shareholders.

Thus, Zavarovalnica TRIGLAV was the largest insurer in the country (GWP of EUR 592 million), followed by Zavarovalnica SAVA (EUR 345 million) and ADRIATIC SLOVENICA (EUR 302.5 million).
