STATISTICS: UZBEKISTAN, 1Q2019: paid claims saw rapid increase of more than 117%

From January to March 2019, Uzbek insurers collected GWP in the amount of UZS 522.8 billion (EUR 55 million), 37.22% more y-o-y in local currency. Paid claims saw a rapid increase of 117.83%, to UZS 180.16 billion (EUR 18.98 million), as data published by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic show.

Due to a favorable exchange rate of Som against Euro in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarter of 2018, in euro the market grew even stronger than in the national currency - by 45.14%.

The market shares of the life and non-life sectors has changed y-o-y. The life sector increased by 6.19% (to 24.66%), while the share of non-life dropped to 75.34%.

The Uzbek market, as of the end of March, was represented by 30 companies. The TOP-5 hold over 51% of the total market volume. The share of the leader, UZBEKINVEST, has slightly decreased (from 23% to 16.48%). New Life Insurance (10.20%) improved its position and moved into 2nd place, replacing UZAGROSUGURTA (8.55%), 4th and 5th places were taken by Gross Insurance and Euroasia Insurance, respectively.
