In 2025, Uzbekistan's insurance sector grew by 37.80% y-o-y, reaching a total of UZS 13.46 trillion (EUR 950.66 million), according to data published by the National Agency for Prospective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The bulk of the total (95.64%) is non-life insurance, which generated UZS 12.87 trillion (+35.78%). At the same time life insurance recorded even stronger momentum, with premiums surging by 104.80% to reach UZS 586.48 billion.

The total number of active insurance contracts exceeded 13 million units (+24.5%), with the volume of new contracts standing at 12.08 million units.

In the compulsory insurance segment, MTPL holds the largest share (6.14 million new policies), while the highest growth rate was recorded in property insurance against fire and natural disasters.

Total paid claims amounted to UZS 2.98 trillion (EUR 210.81 million), which in local currency represents an increase of 35.43%. Non-life paid claims reached UZS 2.84 trillion (+37.24%), whereas life paid claims saw a rather moderate growth of 6.88%, reaching UZS 140.46 billion.

Total liabilities of insurance companies reached UZS 3.81 quadrillion at the beginning of 2026, representing a 41.1% increase over the year.

Insurers' investment activity rose by 46%, with the total volume of investments exceeding UZS 9.55 trillion. Deposits continue to form the core of the investment portfolio, totaling UZS 6.03 trillion (63.2%). Real estate emerged as the most dynamic asset, with investments increasing by 266.1% to UZS 1.65 trillion (17.4% of total investments). Securities accounted for UZS 1.39 trillion (14.6%).

Among the leaders in the non-life insurance sector, ranked by GWP, are APEX INSURANCE (UZS 4.12 trillion), O‘ZBEKINVEST (UZS 1.61 trillion), and GROSS SUG’URTA (UZS 861.13 billion). In life insurance, APEX LIFE INSURANCE holds the top spot (UZS 443.41 billion), followed by TBC SUG‘URTA and ALFA LIFE INSURANCE. APEX INSURANCE remains the market leader in terms of paid claims, followed by MY-INSURANCE and GROSS SUG'URTA.
