In the first half of this year all insurance companies that offer MTPL reported losses in the segment, according to data from the Insurance Association of Turkiye (TSB), Middle East Insurance Review writes.

The losses in MTPL reached TRY 23.9 billion (USD 579 million) in 1H2025, which is a record and 136% higher compared to TRY 10.1 billion posted for 1H2024.

It is noted that motor insurance is the largest business line on the Turkish market in terms of premiums. In 1H2025, the segment totaled TRY 143.9 billion, with y-o-y nominal growth of 55.8% and real growth of 15.4%.
