The 9th International Istanbul Insurance Conference started today in Istanbul

In emerging markets like Turkey, there can be a significant difference between the insured and total insurable losses. Parametric insurance is a smart way to close this protection gap. While the traditional products cover an insured loss, parametric products provide financial protection for various expenses from financial liabilities to contingent loss of profit which, in return, decreases the economic loss burden following a CAT event.

A vast number of new technologies are set to provide new ways to measure, control and price the risk in the insurance market and create new insurance products and business models. These technologies, providing opportunities for the insurers to innovate and modernize themselves, are beginning to reshape the insurance market.

Focusing on "Parametric Insurance, Technological Solutions and New Business Models", the 9th International Istanbul Insurance Conference gathers in Istanbul, between the 5th and the 6th of October, 2017, well-known speakers from the Turkish and the global insurance & reinsurance markets.

The first day of the conference will focus on two main themes: "How to Close the Protection Gap ?" and "New Technological solutions & business models". On the second day, the participants are invited to a workshop dedicated to pools in the insurance market.

The 9th International Istanbul Insurance Conference will be attended by representatives of the Treasury, as well as public and professional bodies, Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers, NGO's and press. XPRIMM Publications will also be present at the event, the participants having the opportunity to read some of the latest issues of the specialized magazines.

The conference is sponsored by the Insurance Association of Turkey, Milli Re, Istanbul Underwriting Center, Willis Re, XL Catlin, PCS, Lockton and Turkish Insurer Magazine. More details are available on the official website
