The Covid-19 crisis has rushed the changes in the workforce market, so that we have become all gig-economy workers, stated Nikhil da Victoria Lobo, Head Western & Southern Europe, Swiss Re at the International Istanbul Insurance Conference.

Supported by the Insurance Practitioners Association of Turkey and organized by IUC - Istanbul Underwriting Center, the International Istanbul Insurance Conference, at its XIIth edition, took for the first time the form of a webinar focusing on the topic "Growth Opportunities in the Insurance Sector and Future of Work".

He stressed out that Covid-19 caused a seismic shift in the workplace, with more than 300 million employees worldwide changing expectations while heading towards a decade of uncertainty. He confirmed the general apprehension that workplaces will never return to the pre-crisis style or organization. Both companies and employees have changed because of the pandemic experience.

According to the speaker's opinion, the main trends in the work evolution are: upskilling for resilience by investing in critical skills and a learning mindset for uncertain future; hybrid styles of work; redefining leadership in favor of the agile and empathetic leaders with an eco-system mindset; new employer contract - increased attention to the wellbeing of the employees; agility & performance and digitalization with purpose

As far as technology is concerned, "the only certain thing with regard to the future of the technology landscape is that evolution, in whatever direction, is accelerating," Nikhil da Victoria Lobo concluded.
