The regulation of moral claims on the motor segment would reduce the claims and reinsurance costs
madalin_rosu_fiar2015The bodily injuries and death caims reported a significant increase in the past years. In 2014, these represented 25% of the total claims paid by Romanian insurance companies, compared with only 2.7% in 2007, Madalin ROSU, Motor Insurance Section Responsible, UNSAR, explained.

"Given this context, one year ago we created a working group inside UNSAR and we started to analyze the situation. We started from a few key aspects: such as the fact that MTPL is one of the most important business lines on the market, that is unpredictable and that it generates certain additional costs because of the lack of an objective evaluation system", Madalin ROSU said during the Motor Insurance Conference which took place on May 20 at FIAR 2015.

UNSAR's working group wants to modify the legislation in order to find objective criteria for evaluating moral damages and it works closely with INML - National Institute for Forensic Medicine. The institute created the "Trauma Scales" for evaluating non-material damages generated by bodily injuries - a table system based on points.
