The program combines two instruments: direct payment for losses to companies in high-risk zones and partial reimbursement of insurance premiums under war risk insurance policies.
It is noted that the launch of this system creates a financial protection mechanism for businesses that was previously virtually non-existent in Ukraine. The state is attempting to partially cover the risks arising from military operations and encourages companies to insure property to avoid devastating consequences in the event of attacks.
Also, the Austrian insurance group UNIQA, which includes the Ukrainian insurers UNIQA and UNIQA Life, plans to strengthen its presence in the Ukrainian insurance market and improve availability of war risk insurance products. The company views the Ukrainian market as a priority and plans to expand more actively, particularly in the life insurance segment.
The Ministry of economy, environment, and agriculture emphasized that UNIQA's activity is a positive signal for other global insurers. According to Minister Oleksiy Sobolev, the company is already seeking partners among international insurance groups, allocating a portion of its profits to cover risks in Ukraine, and participating in the European cargo insurance program, the source added.
