UKRAINE: GWP of UNIVERSALNA increased by 15% y-o-y in 2019

According to the preliminary results of 2019 summed up, the GWP of UNIVERSALNA insurance company (included in TOP-10 Ukrainian non-life insurers in 3Q2019) increased at the end of 2019 by 15% y-o-y, to UAH 950 million (~EUR 35.95 million), as Forinsurer reports.

The company's paid claims amounted to UAH 517 million (54.5% of GWP). The net premiums increased by 12% y-o-y, to UAH 770.8 million. The insurer's assets also grew by 12%, to UAH 1 billion, while equity went up reaching UAH 271.6 million (+1.29%).

Among the main insurance classes in the company's portfolio in terms of GWP it's worth mentioning Motor Hull (39%), MTPL (7%), property insurance (13%), voluntary health insurance (12%), personal insurance (8%), aviation insurance (12%) and travel insurance (5%).

In November 2019, FFH Ukraine Holdings became the owner of the company (70% belongs to Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited and 30% to European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - EBRD).
