UKRAINE: January-May MTPL growth exceeded 12% y-o-y

From January to May 2019, Ukrainian insurers generated MTPL GWP 12.3% more y-o-y, and the total number of MTPL policies increased by 3.5%, Forinsurer reports with reference to data published by MTIBU (Motor Transport Insurance Bureau of Ukraine).

For the first 5 months this year, MTPL paid claims also went up by 13% y-o-y. In addition, MTIBU recorded an increase of 9.3% in the number of settled claims.

As of July 10, 2019, according to MTIBU, sales of MTPL e-policies (introduced February 2018) increased significantly. PZU Ukraine remains the leader in this area - the company's share of the total number of e-policies is 19.8% and its share in total volume of GWP generated by e-sales is 23%.

TOP-10 insurers keep 76% of e-MTPL premiums. Besides PZU Ukraine, TOP-5 group also includes VUSO, KNIAZHA, PROVIDNA and UPSK. TOP-5 account for 57% of e-MTPL GWP, Forinsurer wrote.
