UKRAINE: MTIBU Innovative hub started selection of insurance start-ups

11 March 2020 — Marina MAGNAVAL
In November 2019, MTIBU announced the creation of an innovative hub to support the development and promote technological startups for road safety. The MTIBU team of experts will analyze the proposed innovative solutions.

The first meeting of the expert team was held on February 19, 2020 with three startup presentation topics:

The presentations included solutions in the field of open data provision, road traffic digitalization, insurance as well as new ideas to be developed with the support of MTIBU.

Volodymir SHEVCHENKO, Director General, MTIBU, summarizing the meeting results noted that "we are interested in those proposals and ideas. Some of them, for example, creation of a mobile application of the European road accident statement, are promising in terms of complementing the existing services of the Bureau. An electronic accident statement has certain limitations of web interface which can be resolved by creation of a mobile version. This will increase total number of users and improve using of the european road accident statement form. This socially significant project will encourage drivers to drive safely with the help of introduction of digital procedures. The "game" form (driving safety ratings, tracking of driving behavior improvements, etc.) and a bonus system make this idea very modern and in demand. I hope that combination of administrative ways of control of road traffic and innovative motivational approaches will help with the increasing number and consequences of road accidents in Ukraine. We are impressed by the ideas, the quality of presentations and demonstrated understanding of the key problems that vehicle owners are facing in Ukraine....", he noted.
