UKRAINE: MTIBU supports servicemen who become participants of car accidents

31 May 2022 —
The MTIBU decided not to collect recourses in a judicial or pre-trial order from the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the event that they cause car accidents without a valid MTPL policy, compensation to the victims will be paid out from the MTIBU Victim Protection Fund, according to a press release from the Bureau.

Such a norm will be valid for the period of martial law and six months after its end. The forced collection from military units or military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine based on already adopted court decisions on recovery of compensation for recourse claims is also terminated.

MTIBU General Director Vladimir SHEVCHENKO commented on this decision: "Since the beginning of the war, MTIBU has been doing everything possible to support Ukrainian citizens and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Our defenders, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are now focused on the main task - defense of the country, so nothing should distract them from it, including insurance. Compensation to all victims of car accidents due to the fault of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be paid out from the guarantee fund of the Bureau", he explained.
