Insurance companies-members of the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU) concluded more than 8 million MTPL contracts in 2024, which is 5% more y-o-y. At the same time, a significant part of the contracts was concluded electronically. The total number of e-MTPL policies exceeded 6 million units, which indicates a 17% increase, according to the MTIBU report. The Bureau notes that a significant part of premiums was received from e-contracts (over UAH 9 billion, +37.5%).
Total paid claims under domestic MTPL policies increased by 25% and amounted to almost UAH 5 billion (~EUR 0.11 billion). Of these, insurers paid UAH 1 billion under the European Accident Statement procedure for loss settlement. At the same time, this type of payments increased by 21%.
MTIBU also reports an increase in the number of claims settled. In 2024, 142 thousand claims were settled, which is 11% more than in 2023.
Among insurers, the leaders in terms of MTPL GWP and paid claims in 2024 were TAS Group and ORANTA.
