UKRAINE: Number of insurers falls amid strict regulation

Ukraine's financial services market regulator Natskomfinuslug has said that there were 400 insurers in the market as of the end of June, including 342 nonlife insurers, Forinsurer reports. This represents a 4% year-on-year decline in the number of insurers in the country.

The regulator attributed the fall to stricter regulations, which helped remove inactive and fraudulent insurers.

Meanwhile, insurers' total assets increased 3.6% year on year to 66.16 billion Ukrainian hryvnias (USD 5.59 billion) in the first half of 2014. Read the full story UKRAINE: Number of insurers falls amid strict regulation
