UKRAINE: in January-November 2020, MTPL increased by more than 21%, while Green Card dropped by 29% y-o-y

MTPL GWP in January-November 2020 in Ukraine increased by 21.13% to UAH 5.58 billion (~EUR 0.16 billion*), while the number of contracts grew by 3.64% y-o-y.

TOP-3 companies in terms of the number of contracts concluded include ORANTA, TAS and UPSK, Forinshurer reports according to the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU).

For 11 months of 2020, MTPL paid claims to victims of road accidents increased by 11.7% to UAH 2.3 billion, and the number of settled claims increased by 4.8% y-o-y.

GWP under Green Card policies for January-November 2020 decreased by 29% to UAH 1.1 billion. The number of Green Card contracts dropped by 45%. At the same time, the number of settled claims in this segment increased by 4.4%, and total amount of paid claims for the period increased by 12% to UAH 1.53 billion.

Starting January 4, 2021, MTIBU has changed the cost of the Green Card insurance upward by an average of 3.3% due to the change in the euro exchange rate against the hryvnia. The last similar change of 3.3% was made in October 2020.
