According to the MTIBU (Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine), in the first quarter of 2021, the number of complaints against actions of insurance companies received by the Bureau was 570, which is 57% more than in the previous quarter.

The level of complaints (the ratio of their number to the number of settled claims) is 1.39% (vs 0.9% in the last quarter of 2020), Forinshurer reports.

As the Bureau noted, this increase in the number and level of complaints was due to several insurers, including those that were temporarily suspended by a decision of the regulator. At the same time, 11 companies out of 48 members of the Bureau did not have a single complaint.

General Director of MTIBU Vladimir SHEVCHENKO, stressed that "suspension of a license does not relieve an insurance company of its obligations to pay insurance compensation under previously concluded contracts. MTPL is a socially significant type of insurance, therefore, owners and top managers of insurance companies must take a responsible attitude to ensure stability of work and solvency of the insurers. In turn, MTIBU, in order to strengthen the guarantee functions, increased requirements regarding the rates of payments to the Bureau's additional guarantee funds", he said.
