UKRAINE: the number of e-MTPL policies for the first half of 2020 increased by 224% y-o-y

For the first half of 2020, the number of e-MTPL policies exceeded 1.3 million units, which is 224% more y-o-y. GWP under these e-contracts amounted to UAH 1.12 billion/~EUR 37.5 million* (+228% in local currency), as the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU) said in its press release.

Since the launch of e-MTPL system (February 2018), total number of electronic policies has reached 2.7 million units, and total GWP under e-policies amounted to almost UAH 2.2 billion.

The leaders in terms of number of e-contracts, concluded in the first six months of 2020, are KNYAZHA, PZU Ukraine and U.S.I. The share of TOP-20 insurers is 86% of the total number of electronic contracts.

The MTIBU General director Vladimir SHEVCHENKO noted:

"Electronic services used in MTPL have played a special role during quarantine, when Ukrainians realized that safety and health of people depend on the ability to remotely conclude contracts or document accidents. The pandemic situation has motivated us to focus even more on further digital innovations."
