UNIQA Groups leaves the insurance markets of Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia

In line with the goals of the group’s new development strategy of focusing on its core CEE markets, Austrian UNIQA is announcing its withdrawal from Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, three markets that account together for just 1.5% of the UNIQA Group's GWP.

The UNIQA companies in all three countries are part of a groups formed together with the Albanian market leader SIGAL, which entered the Austrian group in in 2007. Currently UNIQA groups owns 86.9% of SIGAL’s stocks, whereas 13.1% is owned by domestic capital.

After a successful start-up phase, the companies in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia will be transferred back to the long-standing co-shareholder and founder. This ensures continuity for customers, partners and employees. Existing customer contracts will continue to be fulfilled and cooperation with international corporate customers will continue.

The sale is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals. The closing of the transaction is expected in the second quarter of 2025.
