It is in SCOR’s raison d’être to contribute to the welfare, resilience, and sustainable development of societies by bridging the protection gap, increasing insurance reach, helping to protect the insured against the risks they face, pushing back the frontiers of insurability and acting as a responsible investor, SCOR said in its newly released 2025 Sustainable Business Report.
Prepared on a voluntary basis to provide greater insight into SCOR’s sustainability strategy and journey, this report focuses on the concrete actions, innovations, and exploratory studies implemented as part of our underwriting and investment activities. Sustainability is closely linked to SCOR's raison d’être: Combining the Art & Science of Risk to protect societies. This 2025 Sustainable Business Report clearly demonstrates our determination to help advance the sustainability agenda and build a more resilient future.
The Group’s sustainability-related goals are directly linked to its core business and focus on:
• protecting society from extreme events, accompanying economic agents in mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change and enabling a smooth energy transition;
• accompanying people’s health and wellbeing, including by developing prevention and accessible health solutions.
SCOR's ambition is to transition to net-zero by 2050, for P&C underwriting activities, invested asset portfolios and operations. To achieve this ambition, SCOR has developed its own Theory of Change, which relies on various levers to impact GHG emissions in the atmosphere and not only within SCOR's activities. Those levers combine:
• the reduction of GHG emissions intensity through:
– exclusions related to fossil energies applying to underwriting and investment activities, and
– decarbonization targets applying to underwriting activities, investment activities and to operations;
• engagement with clients, partners and investees to support their transition to a low-carbon economy;
• support for the development of low-carbon energies through underwriting activities and investments in green activities.
SCOR is also a signatory of the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge, with the objective of contributing to reversing biodiversity loss on investments by 2030. As biodiversity is a broad and fragmented topic, SCOR focuses first on deforestation and has implemented a deforestation policy for its investment activities.
Finally, as an employer, SCOR develops its human capital management through active talent acquisition and retention initiatives as well as attractive and caring working conditions, the report says.
