STATISTICS:  UKRAINE, 1H2026: Paid claims rise 2.6 times faster than premiums

Ukraine's insurance market grew by 16.41% in the first half of 2026, reaching UAH 38.70 billion (EUR 756.41 million). Non-life insurance generated over 92% of the total. Paid claims increased by 43.32% to approximately UAH 17.42 billion (EUR 340.41 million), according to data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

Motor insurance is the largest market segment, generating nearly 60% of premiums (Motor Hull, MTPL and Green Card summed). Motor insurance classes recorded double-digit growth rates in the first six months (in local currency). Medical insurance is another major market segment; its share reached 13.44%.

On the claims side trends varied across insurance classes. Most classes saw double-digit growth in paid claims, with insurance of property risks even recording triple-digit growth. On the other hand, paid claims in certain classes—such as insurance of financial risks and liability—dropped significantly y-o-y.

TAS Group in an undisputed leader in non-life insurance (with a 10.79% share). The top 3 remain unchanged: ARX ranks second, followed by UNIQA. MetLife continues to lead among the 10 life insurers (52.18%).
