Starting from January 01, 2012, the drivers from Serbia will be able to travel by car to 32 countries throughout Europe without a Green Card policy, according to a recent decision of the European Commission. Registration plates and the sticker that comes with new plates will be sufficient proof of having motor insurance. So, starting January 1st, 2012, there will be no obligation to control the existence of such insurance at the borders of the EU and Croatia.
Serbia is the 33rd member State of the license plates sub-system. The green card will no longer be required to enter by car 27 EU states, or Croatia, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Andorra.
At the same time, as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia have not yet been part of the license plates sub-system, green card is still required for the Serbian drivers to entry into these countries.
