CROATIA: Wiener Osiguranje expects a double-digit increase in net profit and premiums this year

11 July 2025 — Marina MAGNAVAL
Croatian insurer Wiener Osiguranje Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), part of Austria's Vienna Insurance Group, expects “an increase of the net profit by more than 10% compared to last year, as a result of a solid business model and the continued trust of our clients”, CEO Tamara Rendic told SeeNews.

It is noted that the insurer ended last year with a net profit of EUR 3.9 million, up from EUR 3.6 million in 2023. GWP rose 9.1% on the year to EUR 144.8 million. In terms of premiums, Rendic projected growth of some 12% in each of the non-life and life insurance segments this year.

"In the next five years, we plan strong growth in strategic products such as private property insurance, health insurance, and further strengthening our market position in the bancassurance and corporate insurance segments", the CEO said. In life insurance, the company plans to maintain its leading market position in the mid-term, while in non-life insurance it is strengthening and further consolidating its position within the top five insurers in the country.

The Croatian insurance market is becoming more dynamic and demanding, which is a positive trend, Rendic said. Among the key trends on the local insurance market, she highlighted an increase in interest in property insurance and voluntary health insurance, growing reliance on digital channels, and the need for compliance with ESG principles and regulations.

The company plans to make all-time high investments in digitalization projects over the next five years to provide clients with faster, simpler and safer services. "I see digital transformation as the foundation of long-term development. It is a strategic direction that we are consistently following because we know that only modern, agile and technologically advanced insurance can meet the expectations of today's clients and respond to the challenges of tomorrow", Rendic said.
