STATISTICS:  KAZAKHSTAN, 1H2026: Life insurance growth exceeds 50%

Kazakhstan's insurance sector grew by 17.66% in the first half of 2026, reaching KZT 1,066.75 billion (EUR 1,925.44 million), according to data published by the National Bank. Total paid claims increased by 24.62%, reaching KZT 259.13 billion (EUR 467.72 million).

The share of life insurance in the market premium portfolio increased to 46.88%, while the share of non-life insurance dropped to 53.12%. Life insurance recorded double-digit growth in the first half of the year – over 50%, while non-life insurance, conversely, declined.

Non-life classes, with double-digit market shares, demonstrated growth in the first half of the year, with the most impressive growth being observed in insurance of workers against accidents (+54.43%).

Total paid claims in the first half of 2026 increased in both life and non-life insurance. It is worth noting that many non-life classes saw a decrease in payments in the reporting period. For example, paid claims in property insurance decreased by 8.50%.

Of the 25 insurance companies in the market, NOMAD LIFE remains the leader in terms of GWP (KZT 181.45 billion). HALYK-Life moved up to second place (KZT 165.00 billion), and EURASIA ranks third (KZT 130.04 billion) as a year ago.
