Insurance Europe's board has voted to terminate the All-Russian Insurance Federation's membership of Insurance Europe, the Federation has just announced emphasizing that it wholeheartedly condemns the Russian government's military actions in invading Ukraine.

Responding to a letter sent by a pool of five Ukrainian professional association of insurers, Michaela Koller, Director general, has expressed Insurance Europe's complete solidarity with the Ukrainian people who are showing incredible strength and bravery during these most challenging of times.

She pointed out that the letter sent by the Ukrainian associations was shared with all Insurance Europe's members and, as a result, the federation's board "has agreed to terminate the All-Russian Insurance Federation's membership of Insurance Europe."

Insurance Europe has also made a public statement strongly condemning the actions taken by the Russian government in Ukraine. Many member insurance associations and companies are providing humanitarian and financial support to the Ukrainian people. Also, companies throughout the European market are adhering to sanctions, and many are already going much further: for example, several insurers with activities in Russia are completely pulling out of that market. Meanwhile, a priority for insurance companies with activities in Ukraine is to take steps to ensure the safety of their employees.

Insurance Europe will continue to support the efforts of companies and national associations through information sharing and coordination.
