Apollo, a Skyward Group company, has appointed Tim Mackenzie to lead its newly launched international casualty reinsurance class of business, as the company continues to expand its global reinsurance footprint.
Mackenzie will join Apollo in October 2026 and will oversee the development of the new business line ahead of underwriting activities scheduled to begin on 1 January 2027. He brings more than 20 years of experience across international markets and casualty lines, most recently serving at Berkley Re.
The launch of the international casualty reinsurance class marks a further diversification of Apollo’s portfolio, adding a low-volatility business segment designed to provide access to new markets while addressing increasingly complex client needs.
“Tim’s exceptional reputation and well-established relationships will build on the division’s successful 2025, as we begin underwriting the class from 1st January 2027. His appointment underscores our commitment to attracting top-tier talent capable of driving success in emerging opportunities,” said Paul Sandi.
According to James Slaughter, the new class strengthens Apollo’s position as a forward-looking reinsurer focused on delivering diversified and disciplined growth while supporting clients with innovative solutions for complex risks.
