BELARUS: Voluntary and compulsory insurance increased in January-July

From January to July 2025, GWP in the Belarusian insurance sector amounted to BYN 1,665.9 million (~EUR 445.42 million), which represents an 11.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus.

In voluntary insurance insurers collected BYN 1,115.5 million from January to July 2025, which is BYN 117.7 million more y-o-y. Compulsory insurance in the reporting period totaled BYN 550.4 million, which is BYN 56.7 million more than in the same period in 2024. Voluntary insurance accounts for 67.0% of total market GWP (vs 66.9% for January-July 2024).

In January-July 2025, paid claims in the republic totaled BYN 936.4 million (~EUR 250.37 million), which is BYN 104.0 million more y-o-y. Paid claims-GWP ratio for January-July was 56.2%, which indicates a slight y-o-y increase (vs 55.8% for January-July 2024).
