Bosnia and Herzegovina: In January Bosnia's Federation insurers’ GWP rises 7.7%, while Bosnia's Serb Republic insurers report a 2.6% increase

The insurance companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation recorded combined GWP of BAM 70 million (EUR 35.8 million) in January, up 7.7% on the year, SeeNews writes citing the entity’s insurance supervision agency.

Non-life insurance rose by 6.3% y-o-y to BAM 56.7 million in January, while life insurance increased by 14.1% to BAM 13.3 million, according to the Federation’s insurance regulator.

ASA Central was the biggest insurer in the Federation in January with GWP of BAM 10.6 million, up from BAM 9.9 million the same month last year. It was followed by Adriatic with BAM 8.2 million and Sarajevo osiguranje with BAM 7.2 million.

The agency's report comprises data on 19 insurance companies operating in the entity, 10 of which are Federation-based. The remaining nine are based in Bosnia's Serb Republic. The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Insurance companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Serb Republic posted combined GWP of BAM 26.5 million (EUR 13.5 million) in January, up 2.6% y-o-y, according to the Serb Republic’s insurance regulator.

Non-life insurance increased 2.9% y-o-y to BAM 22.5 million in January, while life insurance inched up 0.9% to BAM 4 million, according to figures released by the entity’s insurance agency.

It is noted that the Serb Republic insurance agency's report includes data on 23 insurance companies.
