COB, the international organisation that co-ordinates the Green Card system and the Protection of Visitors system, has announced the appointment of Fabio GAMBA as their next Managing Director. Mr. GAMBA will take up the role in July, succeeding Greet Floré upon her retirement.
Mr. GAMBA has more than two decades of leadership experience across the international transport and trade sectors. During the course of his career, the Swiss and Italian national who is based in Brussels, has successfully led and transformed important international organisations, helping to deliver sustainable growth and institutional advocacy, guiding them to become internationally renowned authorities in their respective areas of operation.
Some of his career highlights include serving as CEO of the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), as well as Managing Director of the Airline Catering Association (ACA) and the Airport Services Association (ASA).
Speaking about his appointment, COB President, Sorin GRECEANU said, “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Fabio GAMBA as the incoming Managing Director of COB. Anyone who is familiar with Mr. GAMBA’s career will understand the depth of experience and track record of achievement he brings to the role. He has made a significant and valuable contribution to the growth and evolution of several important international organisations operating in the transport sector and we look forward to him bringing his considerable expertise to COB when he takes up his role in July.”
“It was important to us to find someone with the gravitas and depth of leadership to take the reins when Greet FLORÉ retires from COB in the summer and we are thrilled that Fabio will be joining the team. Greet’s are big shoes to fill, and we are confident we have found the right person to do just that. We also look forward to properly acknowledging Greet’s significant and valuable contribution to COB over the coming months ahead of her retirement,” Mr. GRECEANU said.
Speaking about his appointment, Fabio GAMBA said, “I am truly honoured and excited to be joining COB at such a pivotal time. The importance of the Green Card system goes far beyond being just an insurance mechanism. It is a cornerstone of seamless international mobility, enabling vehicles to move freely across borders while ensuring that victims of accidents involving foreign vehicles are properly protected and compensated.”
“This dual mission – facilitating transnational movement while safeguarding individuals – is of vital importance and it is one that strongly resonates with me. I look forward to working with the COB Presidential College and the members to reinforce that mission and the organisation’s strategic role in helping to further international co-operation and ease of travel for motor vehicles across the Green Card zone,” Mr. GAMBA concluded.
Formerly known as Council of Bureaux, COB’s purpose is to facilitate free movement in cross border road traffic by removing administrative barriers and offering a high level of protection to victims of cross-border road traffic accidents by facilitating the compensation procedures. Our membership is made up of 60 active members spread across 47 different countries.
