CROATIA: GWP in January-April rise 9.6%, while paid claims decline by 10.2%

GWP collected by insurance companies in Croatia in the first four months of 2025 amounted to EUR 665.7 million, or 9.6% more y-o-y. Of this amount, EUR 106.7 million (16.0%) came from life insurance (+2.2%), and EUR 559.0 million (84.40%) – from non-life (+11.1%), osiguranje.hr writes.

In the structure of non-life insurance, the largest segment is motor vehicle liability insurance (35.3%), followed by land transport insurance (19.5%), fire and natural disaster insurance (9.5%) and health insurance (9.3%).

Total paid claims in the first four months of 2025 amounted to EUR 401.5 million, which is 10.2% less y-o-y. Of this amount, in life insurance insurers paid EUR 122.5 million (30.5%), or 29.3% less on an annual basis, and in non-life insurance - EUR 279.0 million (69.5%), which is 2.0% more y-o-y. In the total amount of claims settled in non-life insurance, the largest amounts relate to motor vehicle liability insurance (42.7%), land transport insurance (21.4%), health insurance (12.3%) and fire and natural disaster insurance (7.0%).

In April 2025, a total of 14 insurance companies operated on the Croatian market. Croatia osiguranje leads in overall ranking (26.06%) and in non-life ranking (29.10%), followed by Euroherc osiguranje (12.63% total market share and 15.04% non-life share). While the leaders in life insurance are Wiener osiguranje VIG (17.65%) and Agram Life osiguranje (14.38%).
