CROATIA: The insurance market rises 7.3% in the first eight months

In the first eight months of 2025, total GWP of the insurance sector in Croatia amounted to EUR 1.4 billion, or 7.3% more y-o-y, osiguranje.hr writes based on HANFA’s report (Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency).

Of the total amount, EUR 219.1 million (16.1%) refers to life insurance, which is 2.8% less than in the same period last year, and EUR 1.1 billion, or 83.9%, to non-life insurance, which rose by 9.5%.

In the structure of non-life insurance, the most represented segment is motor vehicle liability insurance (35.5%), followed by road vehicle insurance (19.6%), fire and natural disaster insurance (9.4%) and health insurance (8.6%).

Total paid claims in the reporting period amounted to EUR 781.1 million, which is 6.6% less y-o-y. Of this amount, life insurance accounted for EUR 241.2 million (30.9%), which is 23.3% less on an annual basis, and non-life insurance accounted for EUR 539.9 million (69.1%), which is 3.4% more y-o-y.

In the total amount of claims settled in non-life insurance, the largest amounts relate to motor vehicle liability insurance (41.1%), road vehicle insurance (21.9%), health insurance (12.4%) and fire and natural disaster insurance (8.3%), according to the report.
