ESG IN INSURANCE Conference: meet Pamela SCHUERMANS and find out about EIOPA's actions for a risk-based transition

Pamela SCHUERMANS, Principal Expert Insurance Policy, Lead of EIOPA's inter-departmental ESG group will bring the regulatory view by giving a Keynote Speech at the first ESG IN INSURANCE Conference organized within the 2023 IIF - The International Insurance Forum framework, in Vienna, on 4 April.

Two of the EIOPA's seven key areas of activity for 2022-2024 are ESG related, as stated by the EU's authority for insurance and occupational pensions in its activity plans integrating ESG risks in the prudential framework of insurers and pension funds, as well as supporting supervision of ESG risks and supervisory convergence in the EU, are among EIOPA's priorities. Pamela SCHUERMANS will talk about sustainable finance, providing details on the regulatory and supervisory action for a risk-based transition.

Pamela SCHUERMANS is a Principal Expert on Insurance Policy at the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), based in Frankfurt am Main. Her career covers 15 years of European policymaking in insurance and pensions' supervision. She is currently leading the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) group at EIOPA. In previous leading roles, she was responsible for the Solvency II project and coordinated on EIOPA's policy regarding Brexit. Before joining EIOPA, Pamela has been working at the Belgian financial supervisory authority. She is a lawyer with degrees in finance and actuarial studies and speaks Dutch, French, English and German.
