ESTONIA: Estonian Insurance Association and Estonian Motor Insurance Fund to choose new CEO in September

24 February 2025 — Marina MAGNAVAL

Mart Jesse, the long-time chairman of the board of the Estonian Insurance Association (EKsL) and the Estonian Motor Insurance Fund (LKF), will step down in mid-September when his service contract expires. A public competition will be held to choose a new chairman of the board, the Association said.

"We employ 29 people, most of whom are undisputed leaders in the insurance sector. I have had the great honor of building an organization with them over the years that has been a driving force for both internal cooperation in the insurance sector and its rapid growth. Some of the digital services and cross-market solutions we have developed have become role models in shaping international practice", said Jesse.

According to Marek Ratnik, Chairman of the EKsL Council, EKsL is one of the largest professional associations in Estonia, which, in addition to representing the insurance sector, largely deals with issues of self-regulation. “The services offered by the Association provide a lot of added value to insurers, and our expectation for the new leader is, in addition to maintaining what has been created so far, to also find new opportunities to support development of the insurance sector”, Ratnik pointed out.

According to Urmas Kivirüüt, Chairman of the LKF Council, the Estonian motor insurance system operates very efficiently. “LKF’s information system is one of the largest information systems in Estonia, through which almost a million queries are served daily. Motor insurance sales have been fully digitalized, and today almost half of motor insurance claims are registered using the avarii.ee application created by LKF", commented Kivirüüt.
