According to the statistics of the Estonian Traffic Fund (LKF), 3,800 traffic insurance cases were registered in January this year, with an estimated total loss of EUR 8.6 million, which is the largest amount of damage and the most accident-prone month in Estonia in the last few years.

According to Mart Jesse, CEO of LKF, the damage caused by traffic accidents in January was a record. "Compared to January last year, there were a third more accidents this year. The weather conditions were very bad, which resulted in a lot of crashes”, said Jesse.

"Unfortunately, as of today, we can say that the situation in February is not better in terms of traffic accidents either", says Reet Veilberg, If Kindlustuse's vehicle insurance risk manager.

On average, 45% percent of all traffic accidents are registered through the web application avarii.ee, the fund noted.
