The upcoming FIAR – The International Insurance-Reinsurance Forum (24–26 May, Sinaia, Romania) will bring into focus two critical dimensions defining today’s insurance landscape: the growing complexity of casualty risks and the accelerating pace of regulatory change across Europe.

Within the Insurance Markets Trends Conference, Ana Pavlina Zifciak, Senior Underwriter CEE & International at VIG Re, will deliver a keynote on “Casualty Trends and Emerging Risks from a Reinsurer Perspective”, addressing key challenges such as mass claims in product liability, AI-driven risks, and exposures linked to new technologies and PFAS.

Complementing this perspective, María Luisa Álvarez Barby, Head of Sustainability and Solvency II Subdirectorate at Spain’s Directorate General for Insurance and Pension Funds, will provide an overview of the latest EU regulatory developments, with a particular focus on Natural Catastrophe (NatCat) risks and their implications for market resilience across the region.

Bringing together market practitioners and regulatory insights, FIAR 2026 offers a comprehensive platform for understanding the forces reshaping insurance markets in CEE and beyond.
