Generali Group Head Office and the Generali European Works Council, the body representing almost 58,000 employees within the EU perimeter of the Group, defined a Joint Declaration to face the Emergency Crisis caused by the Covid-19 enduring pandemic.

The document focuses in particular on the health and safety of employees, highlights the need to promote inclusion and work-life balance, and aims to share principles on remote working. It provides a set of common principles that may inspire local parties to guide actions to protect employees and address the consequences of a crisis such as the one caused by Covid-19.

The text focuses in particular on the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, as well as on the need for training opportunities to improve digital and managerial skills. Moreover, the Declaration highlights the importance of inclusion and work-life balance and recalls the 2019 Joint Declaration on Diversity & Inclusion as well as the Group European Social Charter.

Finally, and to the benefit of discussions among local social parties, the text aims to provide a set of principles on remote working whose management includes, among other things:
  • the right to disconnect;
  • respect of non-working hours and rest hours;
  • the possibility for countries of operation to agree on ad hoc welfare measures to support employees' wellbeing in line with local practices and regulation.
