Starting January 1, 2026, tourists entering Georgia will be required to have insurance policy, Business Georgia reports.

A policy's insured amount must be at least 30,000 GEL (~EUR 9455). The policy can be issued by both Georgian and foreign insurance companies.

In addition, tourists must have medical and accident insurance for the entire period of their stay in Georgia, beginning upon arrival.

"The date of adoption and entry into force of the Georgian government decree 'On Approval of the Rules and Conditions for Compulsory Medical and Accident Insurance for Tourists Entering Georgia' is set for January 1, 2026", the Department of Tourism announced.
