KYRGYZSTAN: Drivers to be fined for lack of MTPL policies from April 1

16 January 2023 —
From April 1, 2023, in Kyrgyzstan, drivers will be fined for not having MTPL policies, ru.sputnik.kg writes with reference to the Ministry of Economy.

The law "On compulsory insurance of civil liability of motor vehicle owners" in Kyrgyzstan was adopted in 2015, but for various reasons it was not implemented. This year, for its full implementation, all necessary by-laws were adopted.

To implement the law, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution that will come into force on April 1, 2023. The State Service of Regulation and Supervision of the Financial Market at the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic reminds that from January 1 to April 1, drivers in the country must purchase MTPL policies.

10 insurance companies will issue policies. The minimum insurance premium under MTPL contracts is KGS 1,680 (EUR 18). The cost of the policy will depend on driving experience, engine capacity and availability of technical inspection, while the maximum amount will not exceed KGS 2,100 (EUR 22.57).
