From January 1, 2025, amendments to the Traffic Regulations approved on December 29, 2023, will come into force in Kyrgyzstan. The amendments introduce fines for individuals (owners or drivers of vehicles registered in Kyrgyzstan) for the absence of an MTPL policy, the Service for regulation and supervision of the financial market reports.

The fine for individuals will be equivalent to KGS 3,000 (~EUR 33).

From April 1, 2023, similar measures are already being applied to owners or drivers of vehicles registered in other countries, as well as to legal entities. For legal entities, the fine for the absence of an MTPL policy is equivalent to KGS 13,000 (~EUR 140), the report says.

It is noted that these changes should improve road safety and ensure fulfillment of obligations to insure civil liability of motor vehicles by all road users in the Kyrgyz Republic.
