Kosovo insurers posted 9 months profits of EUR 6 m

Kosovo insurers posted a net profit of EUR 5.9 million in the nine months through September 2021, EUR 1 million more compared to a year earlier, Central Bank monthly figures showed.

STATISTICS: Kosovo insurers posted H1 2021 net profit of EUR 1.5 million

Kosovo active 13 insurers reported aggregate net profit of EUR 1.5 million at the end of June 2021, as compared with a market net profit of EUR 4.9 million at end of H1 2020, according to data provided by the Central Bank (CBK). At the same time, the total assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to EUR 230 million, from EUR 208.6 million a year earlier.



STATISTICS: Kosovo insurers posted a quarterly loss of over half million euro

The insurance market of Kosovo totaled EUR 25.7 million at the end of Q1 2021, 12.5% more y-o-y, according to data provided by the Central Bank (CBK).

The figures reveal that the quarterly aggregate market result was negative, the 13 local insurers reporting a net loss of EUR -0.6 million, from a net profit of EUR 2.1 million at the end of March 2020.

KOSOVO: 20% of national vehicles fleet was uninsured in 2019

According to the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) Governor, Fehmi Mehmeti, between 40,000 and 60,000 uninsured vehicles circulated in Kosovo during 2019. This number represented roughly 20% of the total national fleet of vehicles.


KOSOVO: CBK limits non-life insurers expenses to 24% of GWP

In order to improve the financial strength of local insurers, Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) introduced at the beginning of February 2020 a set of rules that will limit the overall commissions and operational costs of non-life insurers to a maximum amount of 24% of all non-life gross written premiums volume.


KOSOVO insurers ended Q3 on loss

Kosovo's insurance companies posted a net loss of EUR -0.8 million at the end of September 2019, compared to a net profit of 2.1 million euro a year earlier, according to the "Monthly Information Report of the Financial System" published by the Central Bank.
