LITHUANIA, 1Q2013: Positive trend in all market segments
lithuania-statisticsAccording to the data of the Bank of Lithuania, the amount of gross written premiums over the first quarter of 2013 totaled LTL 441.3 million (EUR 127.8 million), which was 11% more than over the same period last year. At the same time, in the analyzed period, insurers paid claims of LTL 315.7 million (EUR 91.4 million) or 28% more y-o-y.

The expansion of the insurance market was mainly determined by the increase of non-life GWP to LTL 308.4 million - or 11.2% more y-o-y. Motor insurance volumes (Motor hull and MTPL, added-up) increased by 11.2% to LTL 171.1 million (38.8% of the total insurance market), while the property insurance segment increased by 9.8% to LTL 64.3 million, or 14.6% of the total market.

At the same time, the life insurance market developed by 10.4% to LTL 132.9 million, representing 30.1% of the total insurance market. The traditional life policies increased by 7%, while the unit-linked segment totaled almost LTL 91 million or 12.7% more compared with 1Q2012.
