MOLDOVA: Amendments to the law to help increase competition and diversify insurance products

12 November 2024 — Marina MAGNAVAL
The Moldovan government has approved amendments to the law on insurance and reinsurance activities, according to which insurance companies will be able to simultaneously hold licenses for life insurance and general insurance, bizlaw.md writes.

It is noted that currently only one insurance company has a license for both types of insurance.

According to the authors of the amendments, these changes are intended to facilitate investors' access to the insurance market, helping to increase competition and diversify insurance products available to consumers. It is expected that more companies will be able to offer both life insurance and general insurance, thereby offering a more diverse range of products and personalized services.
