The reasons cited for the cost revision include an increase in average damage amount in the region, rising costs of repairs and payments in EU countries, and adjustment of risk factors in line with insurance market statistics. The changes are based on centralized statistical data for the past five years, reflecting economic development, insurance compensation costs in the Green Card system, and trends in the European insurance market. The changes include adjustments to the basic tariffs and conversion rates.
The new basic tariffs will come into effect after November 25 of this year. Thus, the cost of a 15-day Green Card policy for passenger cars will increase from EUR 22.50 (MDL 441) to EUR 34.94 (MDL 687), which indicates an increase of more than 55%.
It is noted that compared to 2024, basic insurance tariffs in 2025 see significant increases for some vehicle categories, particularly for passenger cars and light trucks.
