The number of citizens who insured their lives exceeded 15% of the entire population, according to the data from the last census conducted last year. Of all the insured, 82% have policies that insure death, the rest 18% invested in life insurance with a savings component, the ISA (Insurance Supervision Agency) said.

Total investments of citizens in life insurance in the first six months of 2022 exceeded MKD 1 billion (EUR 17.3 million) and is 17% more y-o-y. From January to the end of June, over 34,000 insurance contracts were concluded, which is 24.5% more than a year ago, and over 278,000 citizens have life insurance policies, according to the official data of the ISA.

In the first half of the year, the five life insurance companies paid a total of MKD 345 million (EUR 5.6 million) to their policyholders.
