AEGON replaces GENERALI on the 2015 updated global systemically important insurers' list

Five European insurers (AEGON N.V., ALLIANZ SE, AVIVA plc, Axa S.A. and PRUDENTIAL plc), three American (AIG, MetLife and PRUDENTIAL Financial) and the Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. are on the 2015 list of systemically important insurers (G-SIIs) issued by the Financial Stability Board at the beginning of November. The updated list comprises a total of nine insurers with one new insurer, AEGON, being added and with GENERALI being removed.

ERGO 3Q2015: 14% growth in GWP and almost double profit in the Baltic States

During the first three quarters of 2015 ERGO has shown excellent results in the Baltic States both in GWP and profitability terms, outperforming the market in all lines of business. GWP amounted to EUR 134 million, almost 14% up y-o-y. Positive bottom line result amounted to EUR 5.13 million profit, which is 42% higher than in the same period of 2014.

STATISTICS: BULGARIA, 3Q: 22% increase in life GWP and better profitability on non-life segment

In 3Q2015, the Bulgarian insurance market increased by 9.7% to EUR 722.5 million, statistical data published by the FSC - Financial Supervision Commission indicates. Life insurance market totaled EUR 152.5 million or 22% more y-o-y due the increases reported on traditional (by 17%) and unit-linked (by more than 113%) segments, while the non-life insurance sector generated about 80% of the total insurance market, the equivalent of EUR 570 million (up by 6.8% compared to 3Q2014 figures).

PZU, 3Q2015: Very robust capital position, record-breaking sales, but 28.5% fall in the net profit

Softer market conditions on the capital markets, the price war and rising loss ratio in motor insurance have strongly affected PZU's results in 3Q2015, leading to a 28.5% y-o-y fall in the Group's net financial result, to PLN 1.83 billion (~ EUR 432 million), as a Group's recent press release enphasizes.

STATISTICS: BOSNIA, 3Q: Double-digit increase of RS based insurers pushed up the aggregate market figures

Based on the figures released by the insurance agencies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and the Srpska Republic (RS), in 3Q2015 the aggregate value of GWP by the 24 insurers active in the two administrative entities that formed the country was EUR 227.2 million, or 4.4% more y-o-y. Overall, the value of claims paid increased by almost 5% y-o-y to EUR 96 million.

TRIGLAV 3Q preliminary net profit up 5%

Slovenia's largest insurer, Zavarovalnica TRIGLAV announced its preliminary consolidated net profit increased by 5% y-o-y to EUR 80.9 million in the first nine months of 2015.

TALANX increased its GWP across all divisions in 3Q and targeted a net income of at least EUR 600 million for FY2015

The TALANX Group closed the first nine months of 2015 with an operating profit of EUR 1.51 billion, 4.4% more y-o-y, while the value of GWP increased by 12.1%, to EUR 24.35 billion. At the same time, affected by the impairment in full of goodwill amounting to EUR 155 million in the German life insurance business, the group's net income was down by 7.9% y-o-y to EUR 488 million: "The Group net income excluding the full goodwill impairment in the German life insurance business in the second quarter of 2015 stood at EUR 643 (530) million", the insurer pointed out in a statement.

STATISTICS: KAZAKHSTAN, 3Q2015: Premiums increased by 7.50% KZT 222 billion

Gross written premiums collected by the local insurers increased by 7.50%, to KZT 222 billion in the first 9 months of 2015. In euro, insurance business decreased by 18.32% due to strong devaluation of KZT against EUR by 98%. At the same time, the paid claims increased twice compared to GWP. The most important claims were recorded on the voluntary types of insurance such as: Financial losses (+203.43%), CARGO (+194.61%), Accidents (+75.81%), Property (+56.94%), etc.

In the first nine months, the Belarusian insurance market increased by 10.5% in local currency. The devaluation of the Belarusian Ruble (BYR) against the USD by 67% and by 50% against EUR directly affected the volume of business and welfare of the citizens. As a result, the insurance market decreased by 25.52% in European currency.

SOGAZ to open a representative office in Beijing

SOGAZ Insurance (part of SOGAZ Group, Russia) handed to China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) the package of documents in order to obtain the license for a representative office in Beijing (China), said recently Kirill BROVKOVICH, Deputy Chairman of the Board, SOGAZ.

TRANSSIB Re increased its reinsurance premiums by 24.3% in the third quarter

The volume of the reinsurance premiums collected by TRANSSIB Re (Russia) reached RUB 810 million in the third quarter of 2015, 24.3% more than in the previous period of 2014, according to the reinsurer's statement.
