EIOPA: European insurers' assets close to EUR 11.5 trillion in 3Q2016

At the end of the 3rd quarter of 2016, insurers domiciled in the EEA* had assests of EUR 11,496.2 billion, while total liabilities amounted to EUR 10,167.32 billion, shows statistical information on the European insurance sector based on Solvency II regulatory reporting published by EIOPA.

STATISTICS: Double-digit increase for the BOSNIAN market thanks to the RS-based insurers' results

In 1Q2017 the aggregate GWP of the 27 insurers operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina was up by 11.41% y-o-y, to EUR 83.38 million (BAM 163.07 million), as the figures published by AZOBIH - Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina show.

STATISTICS: Profit of LATVIAN life insurers more than doubled in Q1 2017

During the first quarter of 2017, Latvian insurers generated EUR 1.13 million in aggregate profit, which is 58% less y-o-y, according to the figures released by the Financial and Capital Market Commission (FKTK).

STATISTICS: BELARUS, 1Q2017: Pension and life insurance with investment component pushed up the market

In 1Q2017, the Belarusian market reported GWP of BYR 253.95 million, up by 8.07%. The main growth drivers were health, pension and life insurance with investment component, as well as property insurance.

In January-March 2017, the Kazakh insurance market has seen a GWP growth of 10.02% as compared to the similar period in 2016, reaching a total of KZT 104,924.52 million.

RUSSIA, 1Q2017: Premiums accepted by local reinsurers decreased by 15.65%; RNRC accounts for 4% of the outgoing reinsurance premium

In 1Q2017, the volume of premiums accepted in reinsurance by the Russian companies decreased by 15.65% and totaled RUB 9,747.14 million, of which RUB 5,930.92 million accepted premiums inward of RF and 39.15% outward of the RF.

CZECH Rep.: CSOB and Ceska posta signed 10-year agreement on banking and insurance services

Ceska posta (Czech Post) and CSOB Group (the Czech Republic Business Unit of Belgian KBC Group) concluded a 10-year partnership agreement on the provision of banking and insurance services.

CROATIA osiguranje to absorb its health insurance unit

HANFA - the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency informed on its website it has approved the merger through absorption between CROATIA osiguranje and its private health insurance unit - CROATIA zdravstveno osiguranje.

BULGARIA: SAGLASIE to acquire TOKUDA Health Insurance

The Bulgarian FSC - Financial Supervision Commission announced it has approved the 100% takeover of TOKUDA Health Insurance by the life insurer SAGLASIE. The transaction amount is of about EUR 3 million.

BULGARIA's FSC approved the merger of two EUROINS Insurance Group units

EUROINS Insurance Group (EIG) said in a statement that the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) approved the merger of EUROINS Health Assurance, the Group's health insurance subsidiary, into EIG Re - formerly HDI Zastrahovane.

BULGARIA: KBC completes acquisition of UBB and INTERLEASE

Belgian KBC Group anounced it has completed the acquisition of United Bulgarian Bank (UBB) and the leasing company INTERLEASE from the National Bank of Greece (NBG) for a total consideration of EUR 610 million.

ETHNIKI Insurance close to becoming an American-Dutch owned company

ETHNIKI Insurance's sale entered its final stage once the National Bank of Greece's board approved the sale of a majority stake in it to American-Dutch consortium Calamos-EXIN, a banker close to the deal told Reuters.

LITHUANIA: AIG to close its Vilnius service center after operating for two years

AIG - American International Group announced it is closing its service center operations from Vilnius, Lithuania. The service center was opened in April 2015 to service insurance policies, manage claims and oversee payouts, wrote "The Baltic Course".

Fitch Ratings has revised Lloyd's of London's (Lloyd's) and Lloyd's Insurance Company (China) Ltd's Outlook to Negative from Stable while affirming the Insurer Financial Strength (IFS) Ratings at 'AA-'.

TURKEY to create a "Pool system" for MTPL

The Turkysh authorities are considering to create a "Pool system" for the distribution of MTPL premiums and claims for high risk groups of vehicles. The pool would be managed by the Turkish Motor Vehicles Bureau, under the Treasury's supervision.
