STATISTICS: ALBANIA: Paid claims and indemnities expanded by a quarter during 2018

The Albanian insurance industry totaled over ALL 16.19 billion (~EUR 136.7 million) at the end of 2018, or 4.7% more y-o-y. The number of issued insurance contracts reached 1,309,143 showing a y-o-y increase of 5.89%, according to data published by the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA).

BULGARIA: MTPL insurers' contribution to the motor Guarantee Fund raised by BGN 2 per policy

Bulgarian FSC (Financial Supervision Commission) has raised the fixed amount of contribution that Bulgarian insurers have to transfer to the Guarantee Fund for each MTPL contract issued, as a followup to the December 20th discussion when the Commission initially talked about a possible change in the amount of contribution.

STATISTICS: CROATIA: Insurance market maintained its growth by the end of 2018

The gross written premiums of Croatian insurers totaled HRK 9.9 billion (EUR 1.3 billion) last year, up by 8.8% y-o-y, official figures show. The highest contribution to this positive evolution came from the life insurance segment and from the motor insurance lines.

STATISTICS: AZERBAIJAN, FY2018: market result denominated in euro saw an impressive growth, of over 36%

In 2018 Azeri insurers generated GWP in the amount of almost AZN 728 million (+30.7% y-o-y), data published by the Financial Market Supervisory Authority of Azerbaijan (FIMSA) show. In European currency, thanks to the Azeri Manat appreciation against Euro, the market results look much more impressive (+36.36% y-o-y growth).

STATISTICS: KAZAKHSTAN, FY2018: non-life dropped by almost 3%, while life keeps strengthening

For 2018 Kazakh market increased by about 4%, total GWP amounted to KZT 384.8 billion (EUR 875.9 million). However, data denominated in European currency saw an opposite trend, showing a market decline by 5.77%, as statistical figures of the National Bank of Kazakhstan show.

RUSSIA: RNRC paid the biggest loss in the history of military cargo insurance in the country
