Hungary: July's storm bill could reach EUR 29 million

Following the storm in July, Hungarian insurers have already paid out reserved, by mid-August, nearly HUF 10 billion (~ EUR 29 million) for claims. Only claims paid for home insurance exceed the total amount of claims for the storm season between May and August of 2020, the Association of Hungarian Insurers (MABISZ) has said.

Munich Re issues another green bond, to support its climate strategy

After successfully issuing a green bond in 2020, Munich Re has launched a green subordinated bond for the second time in its corporate history, the German Group announced today. The volume of the issue is EUR 1billion. The bond has a coupon of 1.00 % and will mature in 2042.

In 2Q2021, the number of MTPL contracts concluded reached 2.4 million units, which is 8.5% more y-o-y. GWP on them amounted to UAH 1.9 billion/EUR 58.74 million* (+14.9% in UAH). Paid claims amounted to UAH 862 million - the number of settled claims increased by 40%, and the volume of paid claims - by 46%, according to a press release from MTIBU.

STATISTICS: Kosovo insurers posted H1 2021 net profit of EUR 1.5 million

Kosovo active 13 insurers reported aggregate net profit of EUR 1.5 million at the end of June 2021, as compared with a market net profit of EUR 4.9 million at end of H1 2020, according to data provided by the Central Bank (CBK). At the same time, the total assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to EUR 230 million, from EUR 208.6 million a year earlier.
