According to Rankomat data, the average MTPL price in January was PLN 693 (EUR 164). The experts note that MTPL rates increased by 23%, and by 41% over the past two years, respectively. Despite this fact, insurers in the motor insurance segment are recording growing losses caused by increasingly high claim settlement costs, Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa (Insurance Gazette) writes.

According to data collected by Rankomat, in January 2025, drivers paid an average of PLN 693 for MTPL. A year ago, it was PLN 563, and two years earlier, PLN 490. According to experts if this pace of growth continues, the average price next year will exceed PLN 900.

“There is no indication that the increase in MTPL prices will stop. After three quarters of 2024, motor insurers recorded a loss of PLN 328.8 million, which means an increase by almost 100% in three months. Although they collected 12% more premiums in the same period, the average loss value increased by almost 11% and reached PLN 10.5 thousand. This is over PLN 1,000 more than a year ago. Considering these factors as well as inflation and rising insurance costs, further growth is inevitable”, commented Grzegorz Demczyszak from Rankomat.
