POLAND: Insurers decide to pay dividends

The position of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority on the dividend policy of insurance and reinsurance companies, adopted in December last year, allowed them to share profit from the last two years with shareholders. Companies eagerly took advantage of this opportunity, Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa reports with reference to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.







STATISTICS: Polish insurers' GWP expanded by more than 5% y-o-y in Q1 2021

The largest CEE insurance market posted aggregate GWP of PLN 17.6 billion (EUR 3.8 billion) at the end of March 2021, 5.33% more y-o-y according to the quarterly statistics published by Polish KNF (Financial Supervision Authority). At the same time, claims and benefits paid by local insurers decreased by ~3% y-o-y to PLN 10.2 billion or EUR 2.2 billion.







POLAND: Telemedico digital health platform will be founded with EUR 5.5 million

Flashpoint Venture Capital, Uniqa Ventures, PKO VC, Black Pearls VC (an existing investor) and Adamed have funding Telemedico platform by EUR 5.5 million (approx. USD 6.6 million). The platform includes consultations with a doctor via chat, video or telephone; AI-triaging and coordination; and booking of in-person visits and blood testing.



STATISTICS: Polish insurers' Q3 profits decreased by 13% y-o-y

Polish insurance market totaled PLN 46.5 billion (EUR 10.2 billion) at the end of September 2020, down by 1% y-o-y, according to the quarterly market figures published by The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF). At the same time, claims and benefits paid by local insurers decreased by ~4% y-o-y to PLN 29.5 billion EUR 6.5 billion.
